BIRMINGHAM – Pauline H. McGill, 91, of Birmingham died on Sept. 16, 2009.
Born in Pickens County on April 12, 1918. She moved to Baldwin County at a young age, residing in Perdido for 44 years. She was a member of Perdido Baptist Church, president of the PTA, member of the WMU and Order of the Eastern Star. She graduated from Livingston State Teacher’s College and was voted the Most Outstanding Teacher of Perdido Junior High School. Mrs. McGill has been a resident of Birmingham since 1978. Her husband, G.T. McGill and parents, Nell M. Huff and John H. Huff, preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Martha Jean McGill Shaw (Jim); sons, John T. McGill and James O. McGill; special friends, Joel Isenburg, John M. Fuller and Shirley Baskin along with her beloved companion, Skip. The family would like to express their gratitude to Odyssey Hospice for the care of their mother.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 19, 2009 with the Rev. David
Farry officiating at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family request that memorials, in memory of Mrs. McGill’s memory be made to The Birmingham Botanical Gardens, 2612 Lane Park Road Birmingham AL 35223.
