Lady Cougars spike Ashford

The Lady Cougars of Canoe swept Ashford Academy in two games Thursday in Canoe winning all six games to pick up their seventh win of the volleyball season.
In the first match, the Lady Cougars (7-6, 4-4) defeated Ashford in three games 25-16, 25-23 and 25-19.
Lady Cougars head coach Keri Payne said she thought her team played strong in the win.
The Lady Cougars swept Ashford in three games in their second match to pick up the win.
The Lady Cougars won the three games with scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-14.
Leading the way for the Lady Cougars were junior Amber Huskey with 15 points, six aces, four assists, four kills, three blocks and two digs; Jordan Jaye with 15 kills, nine points, four aces and one block; Grayson Emmons with 15 assists, 13 points three aces and two digs; Ashleigh Geck with six points, two blocks, one ace and one kill and Samantha Lee with seven points and three aces.
With the season nearing its end, the Lady Cougars have a chance to make the playoffs.
Payne said if her team can win its next two matches then they can lock up a playoff spot.
The Lady Cougars next game is at South Montgomery on Oct. 1 beginning at 4 p.m.
