The area surrounding Atmore will be full of school spirit this week as all three high schools play at home Friday for the first time since I have lived in Atmore.
Escambia County and Northview are having their homecomings this weekend, which is sure to put the school spirit at each school through the roof.
The Blue Devils take on the Leflore Rattlers Friday night at Herbert Barnes Stadium and are going to try and put their past two games behind them.
The team was down a little last week without starting quarterback Rico Stallworth, but things look to shape up against Leflore.
ECHS should be angry this week and looking to take that anger and use it agains their region foe.
If they can channel all of their energy on putting up a win then it could help turn their season around.
With homecoming here this week, the Blue Devils will be ready for the task at hand.
This will be a much different team than the one that played last Friday. ECHS 28, Leflore 12.
Northview takes on their rivals the Baker Gators in their homecoming match up.
The Chiefs are playing at a much higher level then they did last season.
If they can control the line of scrimmage Friday night and execute to the best of their abilities then they can get a victory.
Preparation and focus will be important if the Chiefs look to put Baker away.
Northview will come out firing on all cylinders. Chiefs 34, Gators 20.
The Cougars of Canoe are the epitomy of a team that has changed for the better.
They are halfway through their season and looked poised for a run to the playoffs.
This week they host the Marengo Academy Longhorns. Holding their own against the playmakers Marengo has will be the key for a win.
If EA can play the kind of football they have played the last two weeks then they can get an easy victory.
Coach Gibson said depth will play a role in the match up.
If the Cougars can hang into halftime then they can get a win.
Escambia Academy will run the second half and finish this game with a 27-13 win.
There would be no greater feeling then to publish Saturday’s paper with three winning scores on the front of the sports page.
Good luck to all three teams in each of their games this weekend. Now bring home three big wins.
