POARCH - James Donald Lester left this world in peace Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 with his family by his side at the Atmore Community Hospital.
He was a resident of Poarch and a lifetime native of Homewood. He was 66 years old. He was retired from Napa auto and a sports fan by nature. He attended shades valley and the University of Alabama schools. He was a member of our proud United States Marine Corp. He was an active member of the Marine Corp clubs and of the Homewood American Legions.
His parents, Jessie James and Alice Steine Lester and one sister, Shirley Preyer, preceded him in death.
Left to carry on his life here on earth are his daughter, Brandi (Don) Lester of Summerdale; grandchildren, Jacob Dean and Alice Jean Lester of Summerdale; one brother, Jesse Albert (Gloria) of Birmingham.
A celebration of his life will be held at the American Legion Club in Homewood on Oct. 17, 2009. All is invited. Family will receive friends here. Arrangements made by Petty-Funeral Home of Atmore and Ritoff Chapel in Birmingham.
