All performing artists dream of hearing their name announced following “and the winner is” during an awards presentation.
One Atmore native may see that dream become a reality Thursday night when the 15th annual Inspirational Country Music (ICM) Awards Show airs nationally from Trinity Music City USA. Atmore’s own Denean Workman is in Nashville this week to attend honor parties and the awards ceremony that will be seen locally on Dish and DirecTV stations.
Workman is one of five singers that has been nominated for Top Female Vocalist of the Year. The honor is one she won’t soon forget.
Workman’s co-nominees in the category include Amanda Fessant, Kathy Joy Bell, Mary James and Sandra Dee.
Although Workman said the journey that got her to this point in her gospel music career has been an adventure and an eye-opening experience, it has all been worth it.
Workman and her husband, Danny, have four children, three of which have been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes.
Workman said the journey she and her family are taking has been interesting, but it has been a blessing to see God’s work in their life.
Workman was also invited as an honoree during a No. 1 party on Sunday at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville to recognize her recent chart topping song, “God Don’t Make Mistakes.”
The televised awards ceremony will be aired over DirecTV channel 377 over the TCT network. Dish subscribers can see the show on the DayStar network, channel 63. Airtime is 7 p.m.
