With a trip to Springwood Academy in their sights for the first round of the AISA playoffs, the Escambia Academy Cougars must take a trip into Metro-Birmingham to take on the Bessemer Academy Rebels.
The Cougars (6-4, 5-2) are hoping to stay injury free and come away with a win over the highly-ranked Class AAA Rebels (7-3, 5-1).
Cougars Head Coach Heath Gibson said the Rebels bring a strong passing game, which could hurt his defense.
Offensively, the Cougars will look to add wrinkles to their offense by looking to the air attack.
Gibson said adjustments need to be made, so the run game is able to open back up.
The Cougars have shown to be a second-half team all season. In a game against a strong opponent, the Cougars need to come out running on all cylinders at the first kickoff.
Gibson said he might need to adjust pre-game rituals to get the team fired up. He added a win would be good to end the regular season.
The Cougars and Rebels kickoff Friday at 7 p.m. at Bessemer Academy.
