Another former Lady Blue Devil plans to make her mark in college athletics next semester with the Bishop State Wildcats.
Just months after graduating from Escambia County High School and being named the Atmore Advance’s 2009 Softball Player of the Year, Latesha Lee signed a letter of intent to play shortstop for the Lady Wildcats softball team.
She said she chose Bishop State because of its reputation as well the scholarship offer.
Lee finished her senior season with the Lady Blue Devils with a .400 batting average, 5 HR, 40 RBI, 28 R and 20 SB.
The opportunity from Bishop State came after Lee’s high school coach, William Casaday spoke to the coach at the Mobile community college.
Casaday said it is a wonderful chance for one of his best players.
Once she is enrolled at Bishop State, Lee plans to major in business administration.
She said she is ready to begin playing in college because of the competition she will face.
Lee begins classes and practice at Bishop State in January.
