Vandals decided to make the Atmore Area YMCA its most recent target following several incident along Pensacola Avenue including several vehicle thefts.
The YMCA’s bus that is used to transport children that participate the summer daycare and after school care programs had several windows busted out with some being broken by a BB gun.
Atmore Area YMCA Executive Director Tammy Graham said the incident started with a single window over the weekend, but more soon followed.
The damage to the windows on the bus are going to be replaced by Novus Auto Glass, and will cost the YMCA, which is already in need of funds, approximately $500.
With vandals striking the bus twice in such a short time, Graham has moved the bus to a more visible location in hopes to curb their efforts.
Busted windows on the bus are not the only concern to Graham and the staff at the YMCA.
Graham said gang signs etched on the windows towards the back side of the building were brought to her attention the second Monday in October. She added a window near the gang signs was also busted in recent weeks.
Graham also wants people to know that vandalism of the YMCA will not be tolerated.
She said if anyone is caught then they will be prosecuted.
If anyone knows anything about the busted windows or gang signs they may contact the Atmore Police Department at 368-9141.
