Atmore dentist found dead Saturday

Deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office discovered Atmore dentist Thomas Alvin Rice Jr., DMD, dead at his home late Saturday afternoon.
According to investigators, Rice died from a gunshot wound, and was found inside his Nokomis residence located off Hwy. 31.
Rice was a 1982 graduate of the University of Alabama and has practiced dentistry at 111 E. Ridgeley Street in Atmore for several years.
Rice's death is still under investigation as autopsy results are awaited from the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Mobile.
