Thank you for your support of the Greater Escambia Council for the Arts performance of “The Rainmaker.”
There are too many people responsible for making the inaugural performance in the Greater Escambia Center for the Arts a success to thank them all individually. The cast was exceptional, seasoned veterans and first time actors combined to give three stellar performances, but without great audiences those performances would be just rehearsals. Our audiences were the best. Actors feed off the energy of the audience and that serves to shape the performance. If you attended any of the three performances, know that you did your part admirably.
To the many people who worked behind the scenes in support, thank you. Your efforts made things go smoothly. Last, but definitely not least, to the many individuals who worked tirelessly to get the building ready, your efforts did not go unnoticed.
Over the past 10 years, GECA has performed in venues, large and small, around south Alabama and northwest Florida. We now have a “house” of our own. Traditionally, actors are superstitious people and we hope that when you entered the front door of the Greater Escambia Center for the Arts you felt the “magic” that we feel. With all its faults, this building houses the 10-year dream of GECA.
We are taking a “leap of faith” because we have a dream. We will be seeking funding in various places to renovate this building, outfitting it with a stage, seating, a dance studio, meeting space and art gallery. We need your support now more than ever. While grants are available, they are not easily acquired and often rely on a showing of community support. We believe that this project can benefit the citizens of Atmore and the surrounding areas.
We will be occupying a once vacant historical building while providing a venue for quality entertainment, as well as teaching space for dance and art classes. Help us keep this dream alive. In the upcoming weeks, months and even years, we will be asking for financial assistance, as well as sweat equity.
Please help GECA make this “house” our “forever HOME”.
