Lady Devils fall 48-32

A sloppy effort by the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils gave the team its second loss of the season to the Baldwin County Lady Tigers as the visiting team picked up a 48-32 win at Escambia County High School Friday night.
The Lady Blue Devils (2-2, 0-0) were extremely outmatched and outsized by the Lady Tigers, who used their size to their advantage throughout the game. The home team shot 28 percent from the floor and 50 percent free throws.
Canausha Crenshaw led the charge for the Lady Blue Devil with eight points.
Offensively, the Lady Blue Devils could never get a run going with the Lady Tigers defense constantly swarming to the ball and causing several turnovers.
With point totals low, the Lady Blue Devils had to stiffen up there fullcourt press before they could cut into the lead that Baldwin County mounted on them early in the first-half.
As time continued to be a factor, the Lady Blue Devils did push their way back into the game late in the third quarter with help from Marie Peavy who added five points.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers pulled away again this time putting the nail in the coffin and escaping Atmore with a 48-32 victory in hard fought rivalry game.
Lady Blue Devils that contributed in the loss included: Jodeci Craft with three points, five rebound and four steals; Jasmine Tolbert, Diamond Williams, Brianna Martin, Jasmine Tolbert and Tiffany Madison each scored three points in the effort.
Sherry’s Elegant Flowers was the game ball presentation sponsor for the game.
The Lady Blue Devils next game is Dec. 1 at Hillcrest High School in Evergreen.
