Chiefs rout Ponce De Leon

Northview traveled away from Bratt, Fla. Monday night to battle the Ponce De Leon Pirates and came away with a 49-33 victory to open district play for the 2009-10 season.
The Chiefs earned the victory early in the first half as they took an 18-7 lead in the first quarter.
Chiefs Head Coach Lorenzo Jones said the Chiefs played great team basketball.
After securing the 11-point lead in the first period,, the Chiefs added to their lead by outscoring the Pirates 11-9 to take a 29-16 lead into the locker room.
Leading the charge for the Chiefs was Ladarion White who scored 11 points in the game, while also leading the team with five rebounds.
Aaron Bellamy pushed his way into the stat sheet as well scoring 10 points and pulling down four boards.
After the half, the Chiefs continued to pile on points as they scored eight in the third quarter, while their defense held Ponce De Leon to four points.
In the final period, the Pirates finally got the better of the Chiefs by scoring 13 points to the Chiefs 12, but it was too late for a comeback as Northviw walked away the victor.
Jones said work on rebounding and defense has paid off for his young team.
Chiefs that recorded stats in the win included Dabney Langhorne with nine points and four rebounds; Austin Arrington scored six points, nabbed four steals and pulled down two rebounds; Lance Bushaw with five points; Colton Sims and Stanley Chestnut each netting four points.
