All four people that were trapped on Deere Creek Road have been saved and transported to Atmore Community Hospital for further evaluation.
They were saved on a jet ski being driven by civilian volunteer Mike Allen. Allen along with personnel from the Atmore Police and several fire departments were able to secure all four people at approximately 11:10 p.m.
Three cars were swept away and submerged in water on Deere Creek Road earlier. There were originally thought to be five occupants stranded between the three vehicles, but it has now been confirmed that there are four (two males and two females).
Fire &rescue units from Atmore, Walnut Hill and Poarch as well as two ambulances have responded to the scene.
The Escambia County Sheriff's Office is also sending in jet skis to be used in the rescue.
The United States Coast Guard has been called to the scene, and will assist in the rescue from the air with an H-65 Dolphin from their Aviation Training Center in Mobile.
