The nation’s slow economy has forced many small town businesses to close up shop.
For one Atmore business owner, she has decided to give the economy a few months to recover while taking a break and making some changes both “cosmetic and some menu changes.”
Annie’s Community Cup will lock its doors Dec. 23 and not reopen until the spring, owner Annie Nowak announced last Friday.
Nowak began informing her “regulars” last week, but many are unaware of her decision to “take a break” after four and a half years. She said their reactions are that of disappointment.
Nowak said a declining customer base at her coffee shop not only effects her bottom line, but that of local government agencies.
During her break, Nowak said she plans on continuing her art education at Pensacola Junior College. For those who enjoy the many treats offered at Annie’s, Nowak’s love for the arts are evident all around.
Nowak does not have an exact reopening date, but said that when she does customers will be introduced to new seating and configuration of the shop. She added that the hours will “more than likely” be the same.
