Lady Cougars win 51-48

Escambia Academy’s Lady Cougars survived a fourth quarter scare by the Rocky Bayou Christian Lady Knights Saturday afternoon to pick up their ninth victory of the season.
The Lady Cougars’ (9-1, 0-0) late scoring efforts kept them alive and helped them pick up the 51-48 win over the Lady Knights.
Lady Cougars junior forward Amber Huskey led the Academy with 16 points in the victory.
In the first quarter, the Lady Cougars jumped out to an early lead by outscoring Rocky Bayou 20-17.
The close battle continued in the second period as the Lady Cougars extended their slim lead by adding 15 points to their total and only allowing the Lady Knights to score 12. At halftime, the Lady Cougars led 35-29.
In the third quarter, the Lady Cougars outscored the Lady Knights 6-3, but the fourth quarter proved to be the best of the game.
In the final period, the Lady Knights fought back and at one point took a one-point lead over the Lady Cougars and outscored them 16-10 in the fourth.
The Lady Cougars would not be denied the victory though using their home crowd to their advantage winning 51-48.
EA Lady Cougars recording points included junior forward Taylor Helton with 11 points, senior center Jordan Jaye with eight points, junior guard Rachel Fuller with five points and senior guard Kay Leigh Miller with four points.
