Brewton area residents will have an opportunity to ring in the New Year Thursday night at Burnt Corn Creek Park near downtown.
Brewton City Clerk John Angel said entertainment for the evening’s festivities will begin at 9:30 p.m.
The group’s performance will be followed with the traditional fireworks display and blueberry drop, Angel said.
For the evening, an area of downtown streets will be closed to traffic to maintain safety for those attending the event, Danny Howard, public works director, said.
For those planning to spend the evening at the park, members of the D.W. McMillan Hospital Relay for Life Team will have refreshments available. The group will be selling coffee, hot chocolate, nachos and soft drinks as part of fundraising efforts for their team.
There is limited seating available at the park. Attendees are welcome to bring folding chairs for the evening.
