Cougars beat Vols again

Cougars Keaton Maher and Brandon Goddard scored double-digits Monday night to lead their Escambia Academy Cougars to a 67-51 win over their rivals the Monroe Academy Volunteers.
The No. 10 Cougars’ (14-5, 5-3) leading scorers pushed their team past the Volunteers as Goddard scored 19 points and Maher added 14. Maher recorded a double-double as he also pulled down 10 rebounds in the win and also recorded three blocks and an assist. Goddard had three rebounds and one steal.
In the victory, Cougars forward Darron McGhee fell one points short of a double-double scoring nine points and pulling down 12 rebounds. He also posted a block and stole a pss.
Cougars guards Michael Hipa and James White added to the scoring with Hipa scoring eight points and White chipping in six. Hipa also had seven assists, three rebounds and one steal with White passing out three assists.
Cougars guard Tanner Kirk recorded four points, three rebounds and an assist.
Cougars guard Jake Wasdin added three points, while center Nate Smith and guard Jaylen Henry each scored two.
The Cougars next game is Friday night at Pickens Academy. Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m.

Volunteers JV 28
The junior varsity boys squad handled their business Monday night as they defeated the Monroe Academy Volunteers 41-28.
The Cougars used the offense of several players to push their way past their rivals.
Cougars guard Jordan Sasser led the team with 11 points in the victory.
Cougars Blake Quimby and Jacob Dean supported Sasser’s effort by scoring eight points each.
Forwards Scott Brantley and Paul Arnold also added to the scoring with five points each.
Cougars guard Eddie Agrait rounded out the scoring with four points.
Game stats for the Cougars’ games against Meadowview and Southern were not made available at press time.
