ATMORE - Delton Jack Smith, 85, of Atmore died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 in Atmore.
He was retired from the U.S. Maritime Reserve Fleet, born on Dec. 3, 1924 to the late Oscar Lee and Kate Smith of Alexander City. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore, a WWII Navy Veteran and a Mason of the Carney Lodge for 50 years.
He is preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Gertrude Moye Smith of Atmore; one son, Randy Smith and wife Susan; one daughter, Janet Swift and husband, Robin, all of Orange Beach; three grandchildren, Justin Beasley and wife, Andrea, Jace Beasley and wife, Lauren, all of Atmore and Jackuelyn Bailey Smith of Orange Beach; four great grandchildren, Kendal Beasley, Kate Beasley, Ragan Lassiter and Paige Lassiter and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 from the First Baptist Church of Atmore with the Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family received friends from 10 a.m. until service time Feb. 2, 2010 at the First Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers were Justin Beasley, Jace Beasley, Wheeler Crook, Jacob Hollingsworth, D.J. Landrum and Mack Parish.
In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Library Fund or the American Heart Association at P.O. Box 409410 Atlanta, Ga. 30384.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
