16 busted for underage drinking

A raid of an Atmore lounge last Friday night following suspicion of minors being served alcohol led to the arrest of 16 people under the age of 21.
According to Atmore Director of Public Safety Glenn Carlee, the Chick-A-Dee Club, located at 55 Carver Ave, was raided just after midnight on Feb. 5 and 16 minors were arrested and charged with minor in consumption of alcohol. An adult was also arrested and charged with consuming while serving.
Carlee said the APD requested the assistance of the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board after receiving numerous complaints of underage drinking. He said during the raid, those in the club were required to provide ID as they exited, which led to the arrests. The club was shutdown for the night ofthe raid.
Deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office transported all arrestees to the Escambia County Detention Center, Carlee said. Numerous other minors below the age of 19 were also in the club, however, they tested negative for alcohol consumption and were sent home with parents.
The owners of the club will face administrative charges from the Alcohol Beverage Control Board, according to APD officials.
The club reopened for the business the next night.
