Lightning struck at Escambia Academy and it landed the school with a new bus.
The school purchased a new bus a few weeks ago to help assist the school with field trips as well as busing students back-and-forth to Baldwin County.
Betty Warren, headmaster for Escambia Academy, said that the bus answers several needs for the school.
The buses will not just be used to pick up students from Baldwin County.
Warren said as long as there is a driver available, the bus can be used for field trips or athletics.
In regards to answering safety issues, the use of the bus will deflect the use of parents as drivers on field trips.
Warren said being able to use the bus on field trips would help reduce the likelihood of accidents.
The bus will also be available to athletic teams that do not have large rosters.
Warren said that the basketball team used the bus last week in their region tournament. She added the other bus that the school has would not be neglected for athletic purposes.
