Atmore received its yearly dose of Mardi Gras Saturday as the Ladies of Essence Mardi Gras parade passed through downtown.
The parade featured several floats, vehicles, horseback riders and even a boat.
The parade began in front of city hall and moved down Church Street then through downtown Atmore and eventually climaxed at Houston Avery Park.
During the parade crowds gathered on the sidewalk to see the festivities as members of the parade threw out candy, moonpies, stuffed animals, beads and souvenir Mardi Gras cups.
Brenda Watkins, coordinator for the Ladies of Essence Mardi Gras parade, said she was delighted to see the support the parade received.
