The Northview Chiefs are back on the diamond with a team that looks to compete for the No. 1 seed in their district.
The Chiefs look to build on the strong season they had last year that saw them make their way into the playoffs.
Chiefs Head Coach Sid Wheatley said practice has gone well with the main focus being on pitcher conditioning.
The strength of this year’s squad looks to be the pitching.
Wheatley said he has several experienced pitchers to choose from.
Weakenesses for the Chiefs sit in the outfield.
After last season, the Chiefs lost their three starting outfielders.
Wheatley said that his team has outfielders, but they are just inexperienced.
Despite the holes that needed to be filled, the Chiefs are filled with players.
Wheatley said filling roster space is not a problem for this team.
The goal for the Chiefs this season is to win a district championship.
Wheatley said winning the district championship would present his team with a good reward.
