Lady Cougars sweep Southern Academy

Escambia Academy’s Lady Cougars dominated the Southern Academy Lady Cougars 19-8 on opening day at EA’s softball field in Canoe.
The Lady Cougars (2-0, 2-0) designated the visiting team finished the second game of the doubleheader strong allowing them to open region play on a high note.
Allie Brooks started the game for the Lady Cougars picking up the win. Brooks pitched two and a half innings striking out two batters and walking two.
After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Cougars came out swinging scoring five runs in the second inning, three in the third and fourth, five more in the fifth inning and three in the sixth.
Leading the Lady Cougars were Sydney McGhee, Breann Rolin and Tori Rodriguez with three RBI each.
McGhee went 3-for-5 in the win, while Rodriguez went 3-for-5 and Rolin went 3-for-4.
Niki Bryan was 2-for-5 in the win with a homerun and two RBI.
The Lady Cougars next game is Tuesday at Patrician Academy at 3:30 p.m.

Tori Rodriguez pitched a complete game and struck out three batters, while going 2-for-2 with two RBI offensively as she helped lead the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars to a 4-0 victory over the Southern Academy Lady Cougars Tuesday in Canoe.
The Lady Cougars (1-0, 1-0) grabbed the lead in the first inning scoring three runs.
The Lady Cougars defense continued to hold the Southern Lady Cougars scoreless and put the game away in the third inning with their fourth and final run.
Lady Cougars Niki Bryan, Breann Rolin and Carlie Broughton all recorded hits. Bryan and Rolin also had one RBI each.
