Northview’s Lady Chiefs traveled across the stateline last weekend to take part in the T.R. Miller Invitational featuring softball teams from T.R. Miller, Escambia County High School, Monroe County High School, Florala, W.S. Neal and Clarke County high schools
The Lady Chiefs (13-0, 2-0) took their participation in the tournament seriously and proved it by dominating their competition with six wins and taking home the championship trophy.
During the tournament the Lady Chiefs outscored their opponents an amazing 82-17 including a 10-6 win over T.R. Miller in the championship game.
Northview’s closest competition in the tournament came from the hosting T.R. Miller Lady Tigers who put up six runs in each of their two games against the Lady Chiefs.

With the game tied at 6-6 after two innings, the two teams battled into extra innings as Northview claimed the championship with four runs in the eighth inning to win 10-6 and drop T.R. Miller to 4-2 overall.
Northview took and early 6-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but T.R. Miller battled back with six runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning.
T.R. Miller would leave the bases loaded in the fifth inning and the Lady Tigers’ defense returned the favor as they held Northview scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings with the bases loaded.
In extra innings, Northview scored four runs on two hits and two errors to take a 10-6 lead and held on for the win.
Guthrie took the loss on the mound for the Lady Tigers going eight innings and allowing 10 hits, walked three and struck out three.
Brundidge was 1-for-4 with an RBI and Neal was 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Guthrie was 2-for-4 with a double and Moore and Bostic were both 1-for-4 in the loss.
Misty Doran picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Chiefs.

Northview’s Lady Chiefs demolished the Florala Lady Wildcats for a second time only worse winning 24-0 in the semifinals of the T.R. Miller Invitational Saturday in Brewton.
The Lady Chiefs (12-0, 2-0) were led by Kolbi Cobb who hit 2-for-4 in the win with two triples and four RBI.
Other Lady Chiefs with a productive game were Ashley Digmon (4-for-5), Shawna Montgomery (2-for-3), Emily Vickery (1-for-3, 3B), Misty Doran (1-for-3, 3B) and Candace Greenwell (3-for-4, 2B).

Continuing their domination in the T.R. Miller Invitational the Northview Lady Chiefs advanced to the semifinals with an 11-2 win over the Monroe County Lady Tigers Saturday in Brewton.
The Lady Chiefs (11-0, 2-0) were able to pick up the win with steady bats, which included Emily Vickery, who hit 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI.
Also getting involved offensively were Kolbi Cobb (1-for-3, 3B) and Kara Hardin (2-for-3).

Lady Wildcats 3
After opening the T.R. Miller Invitational with two consecutive victories, the Northview Lady Chiefs were able to make it a third straight as they crushed the Florala Lady Wildcats 11-3 in Brewton Saturday.
The Lady Chiefs (10-0, 2-0) dominated the game from beginning to end as they came close to 10-run ruling their opponents.
Shawna Montgomery led the Lady Chiefs in the victory going 3-for-3 with two doubles.

In the first match between the two teams, Northview scored nine runs in the second inning to beat T.R. Miller 12-6.
Miller’s Guthrie took the loss on the mound allowing seven hits, struck out one and walked five.
Leading the charge for the Lady Chiefs was Candace Greenwell, who hit 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.
Lady Chief Misty Doran hit 2-for-3 and picked up the win on the mound.
Natalie Neal led Miller going 1-for-2 with an inside-the-park homerun with four RBIs.
Other Miller batters included Guthrie who was 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI. Leigh Margaret Bostic was 1-for-1 and Teralyn Moore was 2-for-2.

In the opening game of the the T.R. Miller Invitational, the Northview Lady Chiefs shutout the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils 14-0 in Brewton Friday.
The Lady Chiefs (8-0, 0-0) came prepared to score runs as they picked up their third win over Atmore.
Amber McMillan started the game for Northview picking up the win on the mound.
Offensively, the Lady Chiefs were led by Shawna Montgomery who went 1-for-3 in the win with three RBI.
