The Escambia County Blue Devils were swept in a doubleheader against the Monroe County Tigers Friday night in Monroeville.
The Blue Devils (4-16, 0-3) were defeated 8-7 by the Tigers in the second game and 9-1 in the first game.
Blue Devils Head Coach Jason Barnett said his team had the second game against the Tigers won until some calls late in the game.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a 6-0 lead against the Tigers before they had a chance to come back.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Tigers were able to keep the Blue Devils on their heels offensively and defensively.
Barnett said Monroe County was able to get the job done with their best pitcher.
With the loss, the Blue Devils showed one thing that they lack, intensity at the right moment.
Barnett said his players need to be focused at the right time.
The Blue Devils next game is Friday at 4 p.m. at home against Vigor.
