Lady Cougars split games with Pickens

The Escambia Academy Lady Cougars split a doubleheader with the Pickens Academy Lady Pirates last Friday in Carrollton.
The Lady Cougars were defeated by the Lady Pirates 10-7 in extra innings of the second game, but were able to pick up the win in the first game 8-7.

Extra innings were needed to decide the second game of the doubleheader between the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars and the Pickens Academy Lady Pirates Friday in Carrollton.
The Lady Pirates used the final inning of the game to tie the Lady Cougars at six, and used their momentum to score four runs in the top of the eighth inning to pull off the 10-7 win.
To get to extra innings, the Lady Cougars and Lady Pirates battled back-and-forth through the first three innings with the Lady Cougars gaining control in the fourth inning by scoring four runs to grab a 6-3 lead.
The Lady Pirates cut the lead to one in the top of the fifth inning as they scored two runs, and they tied the game in the seventh inning with one run.
In the eighth inning, the Lady Cougars could not overcome the four runs that the Lady Pirates had scored and only put one more on the scoreboard as they fell 10-7.
Sydney McGhee led the Lady Cougars hitting 2-for-4 in the loss with three RBI.
Also recording hits were Amber Huskey (2-for-4, RBI), Breann Rolin (2-for-4, RBI) and Carlie Broughton (2-for-2, RBI).

The Lady Cougars of Canoe were able to hold off a final inning push by the Pickens Academy Pirates to win 8-7 Friday in the first game of a doubleheader in Carrollton.
The Lady Cougars took the lead in the fourth inning as they scored three runs to jumped ahead of Pickens 4-2.
They added three more runs in the fifth inning and one in the seventh, while the Lady Pirates could only gain five more runs.
Leading the way for the Lady Cougars was Amber Huskey who hit 4-for-4 with two RBI in the win.
Breann Rolin also recorded two RBI hitting 3-for-4 in the contest.
