Lady Cougars fall to Jackson

Escambia Academy’s Lady Cougars hosted a home game Tuesday to take on the Jackson Academy Lady Eagles in an AISA softball battle.
The Lady Cougars and Lady Eagles battled back-and-forth throughout the game with the Lady Eagles coming away with a 10-9 victory.
In the first inning of the contest, the Lady Eagles jumped ahead of the Lady Cougars outscoring them 4-2.
After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Cougars were able to grab the lead in the bottom of the third pulling ahead of the Lady Eagles 6-5 after outscoring them 4-1 in the inning.
Escambia Academy added to their lead in the fourth inning scoring two more runs to put them on top 7-5.
The Lady Eagles kept the game close as they tied the game scoring two runs in the top of the sixth inning, but the Lady Cougars responded in the bottom of the inning scoring two more runs to pull back ahead 9-7.
The seventh inning proved to be all she wrote for the Lady Cougars though as the Lady Eagles took the lead 10-9 and held the Lady Cougars scoreless to pick up the victory.
Leading the Lady Cougars was Tori Rodriguez who hit 3-for-4 with a homerun and two RBI.
Lacie Flowers added some pop to the Lady Cougars’ offense as she went 4-for-4 with an RBI, a double and a stolen base.
The Lady Cougars’ next game is at home against Central Christian at 4 p.m. in Canoe.

The junior varsity Lady Cougars of Canoe destroyed the Jackson Academy Lady Eagles 17-3 Tuesday in Canoe.
The Lady Cougars overtook the Lady Eagles in the second inning as they scored six runs to get on top 7-1.
Through the next two innings, the Lady Cougars added 10 more runs scoring three in the third inning and seven in the fourth inning to pick up the huge victory.
Leading the EA Lady Cougars was Page Lancaster who hit 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three RBI and one double.
Sydney McGhee hit 4-for-4 in the win.
