Lady Warhawks improve record to 12-16

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team went 1-3 in their recent stretch of games to make their record 10-16.
The Lady Warhawks were swept by Parkland before splitting with Bishop State to get their first conference win.
Thursday, the Lady Warhawks swept a doubleheader from Dillard University to improve their record to 12-16.
JDCC was set to take on Alabama Southern in Monroeville Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The Lady Warhawks will be back in action at Faulkner State Thursday at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Parkland 5

JDCC managed only three hits and had batters in the final five innings sat down in order as they lost game one against Parkland 5-2.
The Cobras from Illinois scored two runs in the first inning only to see JDCC tie the game at 2-2 after one inning of play.
From there, JDCC would manage only one more hit in the game and fail to get anyone on base while Parkland added two more runs in the second inning and one in the sixth inning to get the win by three.
Jessica Myrick took the loss on the mound for the Lady Warhawks as she went five innings and allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits, walked two and struck out two.
CaSandra Yarbrough went the final two innings for JDCC in the loss.
At the plate, Brittany McCastle and Kristin Myers were both 1-for-2 and Tiffany Duncan was 1-for-3 with Aleah Payne having the lone one RBI in the loss.
The loss dropped JDCC to 9-14 overall.

The Lady Warhawks of JDCC lost in game two by four runs to Parkland to fall to 9-15 overall.
Brittany Linton took the loss on the mound as she went seven innings and allowed eight hits, six runs, three earned, walked two and struck out five.
Duncan was 2-for-4, with a double and a stolen base. Elise Schanley was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Haley Wilborn was 1-for-2, Kristin Myers was 2-for-3 and Aleah Payne walked twice.

Linton went seven innings allowing only three hits, one run, one walk and striking out six as JDCC picked up their first conference win to improve to 1-0 and 10-15 overall.
Brittany McCastle was 1-for-2 with one run scored and one stolen base in the win. Schanley was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Payne was 3-for-3 with one walk and one stolen base. Candice Lawrence was 1-for-2 and Lauren Marshall was 1-for-4 with one RBI.

JDCC lost game two 7-1 to fall to 10-16 overall and to 1-1 in conference.
JDCC had no hits in the loss with only Wilborn scoring the lone RBI and Myers having the RBI.
CaSandra Yarbrough took the loss on the mound going five innings and allowing nine hits, four runs, one earned, one walk, and struck out one.
After winning our first conference game, our hitters did not improve and were shut out by Bishop State in game two,” JDCC Lady Warhawk head coach Misti Nims said. “It was a game of errors and mental lapses. We walked nine times and did not produce a run until the seventh inning and not a good day at the field and not happy with the effort.”

In the first game against Dillard Thursday at home, the Lady Warhawks scored 16 runs on 20 hits and shutout Dillard to get a 16-0 win.
JDCC scored three runs in the first inning, six in the second, three in the third, and four in the fourth to get the win.
Linton took the win on the mound as she went three innings and allowed no runs, no hits, walked one, and struck out four.
Alley Smith pitched the last two innings and allowed no runs, two hits and struck out three.
At the plate, JDCC had six doubles, one triple and a homerun in the win.
Antwinique Harris was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs. Wilborn was 1-for-2 along with Megan Denney. Myers was 1-for-3 and Payne was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a double.
Lauren Marshall was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Allyson Whitman was 1-for-1.
Candice Lawrence was 1-for-2 with one RBI and a double and Sarah Dunaway was 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a homerun.
Schanley was 3-for-3 with a double and a triple and one RBI and Ruschel was 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Kairee Newton was 1-for-1 with one RBI and McCastle was 3-for-4.

Dillard 0
In game two, JDCC shutout Dillard again to improve to 12-16 with a 9-0 win.
Yarbrough picked up the win as she went four innings and allowed one hit and struck out five.
Smith went one inning and allowed two hits, walked two and struck out one.
Harris was 1-for-2 with a double and Myers was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Yarbrough was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Sarah Huggins was 1-for-2 with two RBIs,
Marshall was 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI and Dunaway was 2-for-3 with a double.
Rebeccah Wright had one RBI in the win for JDCC.
JDCC scored four runs each in the second and third innings and one in the fourth inning.
