ATMORE - Edna Giesbrecht Johnson Schneider was born June 20, 1924 to Gerhard W. and Lena Voth Giesbrecht in Montezuma, Kan. She left this earth to go to her eternal reward on April 4, 2010 in the home of her children, Mervin and Diana Johnson at Barron, Wis. She reached the age of 85 years.
On Oct. 28, 1945 she was joined in marriage to Jefferson Johnson at Montezuma, Kan. To this union two sons and two daughters were born.
In 1968 Jefferson’s life was taken in an automobile accident, leaving Edna a widow. Because of the serious injuries she sustained in the accident she endured the pain of much reconstructive surgery, leaving her scared physically, but through it all her faith remained strong. On April 2, 1976 she was joined in marriage to Clarence Schneider, of Ithaca, Mich. where they lived until they came to Oakwood Apartments in March of 2006, later moving into the Manor where she resided until she went to stay with her children in Wisconsin.
It was very difficult for her husband, children, step-children and grandchildren to see her as her health failed. Yet as long as she was able to communicate, she often reminded them to be faithful, encouraging them to live to meet in heaven. She passed away with a smile.
Edna is survived by her husband, Clarence Schneider of Brooksville, Miss.; two daughters, Gloria and Ervin Litwiler of Almena, Wis. and Grace and husband Chester Jantz of Walnut Hill, Fla.; two sons, Mark Johnson and wife Patricia of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Mervin Johnson and wife Diana of Barron, Wis.; four stepsons, Verle Schneider and wife Ruby of Stapleton, Ga., Alvin Schneider and wife Erica of Ithaca, Mich., Glenn Schneider and wife Helena of Leesburg, Ohio and Wendell Schneider and wife Linda of Ithaca, Mich.; two step daughters, Janice and husband, Ron Temple of Hillsdale, Wis. and Mavis and her husband Noah Kanagy of Farrington, Ky.; one step son-in-law, Newell Mininger with his wife Jane; 44 grandchildren and 89 great grandchildren.
In Edna’s family she is survived by nine brothers and their wives; three sisters and their husbands; two more sisters and sister-in-laws. In the Johnson family she is survived by three brother-in-laws; nine sister-in-laws; in the Schneider family she is survived by two brother-in-laws and three sister-in-laws.
