An 18-month-old child died this morning from injuries sustained in an
accident in the Freemanville community Saturday event.
Kemonte Williams died from his injuries at USA Medical Center in Mobile
according to Escambia County Sheriff Chief Deputy Mike Lambert.
Lambert said officers with the Atmore Police Department reported the
incident to the department at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
The accident occurred at 1897 Freemanville Rd. when a vehicle ran over the
child, Lambert said. The child was taken by family members to Atmore
Community Hospital. After being treated for a skull fracture and bilateral
femur fractures, the child was stabilized enough to be transported by
LifeFlight to USA Medical Center.
Lambert said the case remains under review, however, no charges have been
filed in the incident.
