Lady Cougars sweep Meadowview

Nineteen runs and five innings was all it took for the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars to crush the Meadowview Lady Trojans as they swept the doubleheader between the two teams Tuesday.
The Lady Cougars offense proved to be on fire as they scored a run in every inning.
The Lady Cougars designated the away team in the second game opened the top of the first by scoring four runs, and held strong defensively in the bottom half of the inning as Meadowview could only score one.
Escambia Academy extended their lead from three to five in the second inning as they scored four more runs and only allowed the Lady Trojans to add two in their at-bat.
The game started to look like a blowout in the third third inning as the Lady Cougars again extended their lead by adding six more runs to the scoreboard, while the Meadowviw Lady Trojans were unable to cut into the lead by going three up and three down.
The Lady Cougars again added a run in the top of the fourth, but after going up 15-3, the Lady Trojans found their offense as they cut into EA’s lead by scoring six runs to make the score 15-9 as the team’s headed into the fifth inning.
In the top of the fifth, the Lady Cougars scored four runs to jump on top 19-9, and after holding the Lady Trojans to no runs in the bottom of the fifth picked up the win by a 10-run rule.
Leading the Lady Cougars to victory from the mound was Tori Rodriguez who pitched four innings striking two batters, while walking three. She also led the team offensively knocking in three RBI and going 3-for-4 in the win.
Lady Cougar Grayson Emmons hit 4-for-4 in the contest recording two RBI in the process with a stolen base.
Carlie Broughten hit 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Sydney McGhee went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Nikki Bryan and Amber Huskey were solid contributors for EA with Bryan hitting 4-for-4 and Huskey 3-for-3.

The Lady Cougars of Canoe opened their doubleheader with the Meadowview Lady Trojans Tuesday by routing them 11-1 in six innings.
The Lady Cougars scored consistently throughout the game with a run scored in every inning.
With the Lady Cougars designated the home team, the Lady Trojans opened up the game with no runs in the first three innings, while the Lady Cougars scored three in the first, two in the second and three in the third to jump out on top 7-0.
The Lady Trojans finally scored in the top of the fourth to cut EA’s lead to six, but allowed the Lady Cougars to score one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth to pick up the 10-run victory.
Tori Rodriguez led the Lady Cougars on the mound pitching a complete game striking out three and walking two. She also hit 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Lady Cougar Amber Huskey hit 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win.
Niki Bryan also hit 3-for-4 in the contest recording an RBI in the process.
Chelsey Ramer was 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and an RBI.
