Rangers one up Chiefs 4-3

The matchup between the State Farm White Sox and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians Warriors ended in an unusual fashion Monday night in Cal Ripken Minor League baseball action at Tom Byrne Park.

The two teams battled for six innings with neither claiming a victory as they tied 4-4.

The Warriors opened the game in the top of the first as they were able to score two runs with Jayce Sells and Jaylon Daughtry both scored.

The White Sox responded with three runs to take the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the inning as Chase Bell, Jackson Bonner and Brandon Gulsby made the trip around the basepath.

After a scoreless second inning by both teams, the White Sox extended their lead to two runs in the third as Bell scored his second run of the contest.

Frank Henderson would help the Warriors cut the deficit in the top of the fourth as he was able to score his team’s third run.

Colby Burkette was able to tie the game for the Warriors in the top of the sixth inning as he scooted around the bases to put the game deadlocked at four.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Warriors held off the White Sox to end the game in a tie.

Rangers 4

Chiefs 3

It took a team effort, but the Atmore VFW Rangers were able to defeat the Poarch Band of Creek Indians Chiefs 4-3 Monday in Cal Ripken Minor League action at Tom Byrne Park.

The Chiefs came to the plate first and made the most of the inning as they were able to score one run with Tucker Spence reaching base and scoring.

Their lead would be shortlived though as the Rangers took the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the first as Sam Smith and Jabe Dawe scored runs.

Neither team could get any offense going in the second or third innings and they each went three up and three down in both.

The Chiefs were able to tie the game in the top of the fourth with Lucas Presley scoring their second run of the game, and then took the lead in the top of the fifth as Cole Wynn broke the tie with a run scored.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Rangers took the lead for the final time as they scored two runs with Austin Walker and Bryant Quimby putting them on top 4-2.

With the lead, the Rangers stopped any comeback attempts by the Chiefs as they sent them packing three up and three down to end the game.

Warriors 9

Cardinals 6

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians Warriors battled to an opening day win over the Atmore Vision Center Cardinals on Saturday winning 9-6 at Tom Byrne Park.

The Warriors were on fire from the opening pitch as they scored five runs in the top of the first inning with Jayce Sells, Jack Shivers, Jaylon Daughtry, Jason Davis and Tanner Jackson all making it around the basepath.

The Cardinals were able to get one run on the scoreboard in the top of the second as Jaylen Black got a hit and turned it into a homerun.

Through the third inning, neither team could get a run on the board, but the Cardinals began cutting into the Warriors lead in the fourth inning as Jared Gibbs put the Cardinals second run on the scoreboard and Black followed with the team’s third run and second of his own.

After Davis scored the Warriors’ sixth run, the Cardinals tied the game at six with Jaden Torres, Fred Rudolph and Gibbs scoring runs.

The Warriors put the game away in the top of the seventh though as they scored three final runs with Shivers, Davis and Jackson putting the finishing touches on the win.

White Sox 2

Rangers 1

Chase Bell and Brandon Gulsby led the State Farm White Sox to a victory on opening day for Cal Ripken Minor League baseball as the White Sox defeated the Atmore VFW Rangers 2-1.

Bell and Gulsby scored the White Sox’s two runs with Bell scoring in the first inning and Gulsby scoring in the fourth inning.

The White Sox tried to comeback in the fifth inning scoring one run with Austin Walker making it around the basepath. Caleb Gregson almost tied the game at two after Walker scored, but was stranded on base to end the inning.
