Eight-year-old All-Stars fall at tourney

Atmore’s eight-year-old Cal Ripken All-Stars played in a district tournament at Matthews Park in Theodore over the weekend going 1-2 against their competition.

Mims’ eight-year-old All-Stars took it to Atmore’s Cal Ripken All-Stars defeating them 10-6.

Mims had the upper hand early striking first scoring three runs in the top of the third, adding two more runs in the top of the fourth and another in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead.

Atmore bounced back in the bottom of the fifth with six runs to tie the game, but a four-run sixth inning killed any chance of a victory as Mims won 10-6.

The Semmes eight-year-old Cal Ripken All-Stars destroyed Atmore’s Cal Ripken All-Stars 12-1 at the district tournament in Theodore.

Semmes took full advantage of their trips to the plate as they scored one run in the first, nine runs in the second and two runs in the third inning.

Atmore’s lone run came from Tucker Spence in the second inning of the loss.
