PCI Cubs top PCI Rockies 6-1

Saturday marked another opening day for the Atmore Cal Ripken baseball season as five teams in the American League began their quest for a championship.

Hundreds of people turned out for the leagues opening day ceremonies and to cheer on their family members and friends when they took to the field for the first day’s games.

Following a successful opening day, action continued on Monday night with two more games between the Rockies and Cubs and the Warriors and Angels.

Cubs 6

Rockies 1

In a battle of Poarch sponsored teams, the PCI Cubs defeated the PCI Rockies 6-1 on Monday night at Tom Byrne Park.

The game was scoreless until the second inning when Cubs player A.J. Lowery (2-for-2, 2R) ripped a double and scored on a single by Talan Daughtry (2-for-2).

The Cubs extended their lead to six runs in the bottom of the third with Caleb Davis (2-for-3, HR) opening the inning with a home run followed by hits and runs by Ian McGhee (2-for-2, R), Jason Davis (1-for-2, R), Lowery and Damon Rolin (1-for-2, R).

In the final inning, the Rockies put one run on the board with Tucker Spence slapping a homerun to put the final at 6-1.

Angels 12

Warriors 6

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians Angels defeated the United Bank Warriors 12-6 in a battle of Atmore Cal Ripken American League teams on Monday night at Tom Byrne Park.

The Warriors opened the game with two runs as Saviour Kilpatrick (2-for-2, 2R) and Logan Chavers (2-for-2, 2R) scored to put their team up 2-0.

The Angels responded with eight runs as Chasen Wynn (2-for-3, 2R), Preston Respress (1-for-3, HR), Chase Bell (1-for-3, HR), Kameron Bowen (3-for-3, HR), Dylan Purvis (1-for-3, R), Cameron Wynn (2-for-2, 2R), Bailey Williams (1-for-2, R) and Matthew Harris (2-for-2, R) all crossed home plate.

Following a scoreless second inning,t he Warriors cut the Angels’ lead to two runs as four runs scored with Kilpatrick, Josh Hadley (1-for-2, R), Chavers nd Jadon Torres (2-for-2, R) all scored.

The Angels would put the game away in the final innings as Cameron Wynn scored a run in the third inning and Deidrich Alemzoho (1-for-1, R), Devon Morris (1-for-1, R) and Chasen Wynn each touched home plate in the fourth inning to give their team a 12-6 win.

Warriors 6

Rockies 5

In the final opening day match up for Atmore Cal Ripken American League, the United Bank Warriors slipped past the PCI Cubs 6-5 on Saturday at Tom Byrne Park.

The Warriors held the the Cubs scoreless in the top of the first and took the lead 2-0 in the bottom of the inning with Saviour Kilpatrick (2-for-2, 2R, HR) and Jadon Torres each crossing home plate.

The Rockies tied the game at two in the top of the second inning with Dawson Cox(2-for-3, 2R) and Colton Kent (1-for-2, R) scoring runs.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Warriors took the lead back with three runs scoring as Marshall Coker (1-for-2, R), Mareo Lopez (2-for-2, 2R) and Kilpatrick touching the plate to put their team ahead 5-2.

The game became tied again in the top of the fourth with Tucker Spence (2-for-3, R), Billy Rolin (1-for-3, R) and Cox scoring runs, but the Warriors pulled off the 6-5 win in the bottom of the sixth as Lopez scored the final run of the game.

Angels 11

White Sox 2

In an opening day match up between Atmore Cal Ripken American League teams, the PCI Angels beat the State Farm Insurance White Sox 11-2 on Saturday at Tom Byrne Park.

The Angels struck first in the top of the first inning with Chasen Wynn (2-for-4, 2R), Chase Bell (2-for-3, 2R, HR), Dylan Purvis (2-for-3, 2R) scoring to put their team on top 3-0.

In the top of the third, the Angels pulled ahead 7-0 with Chasen Wynn, Preston Respress (2-for-3, R), Bell and Kameron Bowen (1-for-3, HR) all scoring runs.

The White Sox got on the board with a run in the bottom of the fourth as a batter scored and pulled within five runs as McGowans scored in the bottom of the fifth.

The Angels put the game away in the top of the sixth inning as Purvis, Bailey Williams (1-for-3, R), Matthew Harris (2-for-3, R) and Devon Morris (1-for-3, R) all scored runs giving them an 11-2 win.

Cubs 14

Rangers 0

In the opening game of the Atmore Cal Ripken American League season, the PCI Cubs shut out the Atmore VFW Rangers 14-0 on Saturday at Tom Byrne Park.

The Cubs opened the game with two runs as Caleb Davis (3-for-3, 3R) and Jason Davis (3-for-3, 3R) crossed home plate.

In the top of the second, the Cubs extended their lead to three runs with Noah Martin (2-for-3, R) scoring.

The Cubs added six runs in the third inning as Caleb Davis, Ian McGhee (2-for-3, 2R), Jason Davis, Damon Rolin (2-for-3, 2R, HR), Martin and Talan Daughtry (2-for-3, R) all scored.

Leading 9-0, the Cubs finished off the Rangers with five runs as Caleb Davis, Daughtry McGhee (1-for-3, R), Ian McGhee, Jason Davis and Rolin all scored to win 14-0.
