Tigers power past Mariners

Monday featured heated games in Atmore’s Cal Ripken National League as the Atmore Rotary Club Tigers faced the PCI Mariners and the Atmore Lions Club Cardinals took on the PCI Padres.

The Atmore Rotary Club Tigers closed out Monday night’s action by crushing the PCI Mariners 10-4 in Atmore’ Cal Ripken National League at Tom Byrne Park.

In the top of the first, the Mariners were able to score the game’s first run with Dakota Rolin (0-for-0, R) crossing home plate.

The Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the first, with Jordan Britt (0-for-1, R), Justin Walden (0-for-1, R), Brad Quimby (1-for-2, 2R) and Tyler Wilson (1-for-2, 2R) each crossing the plate.

The Mariners tied the game at four in the top of the second as Tanner Jackson (0-for-1, R), Austin Williams (0-for-0, R) and Justin Pearson (1-for-2, R) all scored runs.

In the bottom of the second, the Tigers put the game out of reach as they scored six more runs with Britt, Austin Wiggins (0-for-2, R), Christian Thorpe (0-for-1, R), Quimby, Wilson and Bradley Geck (0-for-0, R) with each player crossing home plate to help their team pull away for the win.

The Atmore Lions Club Cardinals put a hurting on the PCI Padres Monday night defeating them 14-7 in Atmore Cal Ripken National League action at Tom Byrne Park.

The Cardinals broke a 7-7 tie with seven runs in the fifth inning to pull away for the victory.

In the top of the first, the Cardinals jumped out to a 5-0 lead with Dee Dee Poole (0-for-4, 2R), Evan Tatum (0-for-4, R), Fred Flavors (1-for-3, 2R), Brandon Cummings (1-for-3, 2R) and Jabrice Hooks (1-for-4, 2R) all crossing the plate.

The Padres responded with four runs in the bottom of the first as Asa Lane (0-for-1, 2R), Daylon Wooten (0-for-2, 2R), Nate Lane (0-for-0, R) and Thunder Jackson (1-for-3, R) all scored.

Tristan Kilpatrick (0-for-2, R) scored for the Cardinals in the top of the second to put his team ahead 6-4.

In the bottom of the third, the Padres pulled within one run of the Cardinals with Jude Parham (0-for-0, R) scoring.

The Cardinals went ahead 7-5 in the top of the fourth inning with Kilpatrick scoring his second run of the game, while the Padres tied the game in the bottom of the inning with Asa Lane and Wooten scoring their second runs of the game.

The Cardinals broke the tie in the top of the fifth adding seven runs from Darrian Abrams 0-for-0, R), Poole, Flavors, Cummings, Hooks, Devon Robinson (1-for-3, R) and Jared Gibbs (0-for-2, R) helping their team taking the decisive lead.

The Atmore Lions Club Cardinals picked up another win over the Atmore Rotary Club Tigers winning 8-2 on Friday night at Tom Byrne Park.

The Cardinals grabbed the lead in the second inning and never let go on their way to the six-run victory.

In the bottom of the first, the Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead with Jordan Britt (0-for-3, R) crossing home plate.

The Cardinals took the lead in the top of the second inning with three runs from Brandon Cummings (2-for-3, 2R), Jabrice Hooks (1-for-3, 2R) and Devon Robinson (2-for-3, 2R) putting them on top 3-1.

In the third inning, the Cardinals held the Tigers scoreless, while adding a run to their lead with Fred Flavors (0-for-1, R) crossing home plate.

Tyler Wilson (1-for-3, R) scored a run for the Tigers in the bottom of the fourth inning cutting the deficit to two runs, but the Cardinals answered in the top of the fifth.

Leading 4-2, the Cardinals pushed out to an 8-2 lead with Evan Tatum (0-for-3, R), Cummings, Hooks and Robinson all scoring runs and leading their team to a win.

In a Friday night Cal Ripken National League match up, the PCI Padres defeated the PCI Mariners 11-7 at Tom Byrne Park.

The Padres jumped ahead in the first inning and never looked back on their way to the win.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Padres pushed out to a 9-0 lead with runs scored by Corey Bailey (1-for-1, 3R), Trennon Hamilton (0-for-2, R), Tyler Sells (1-for-2, R), Daylon Wooten (1-for-3, R), Hunter Finley (0-for-1, R), Asa Lane (0-for-1, R), Bailey Bass (0-for-2, R) and Nate Lane (1-for-1, 2R).

The Mariners got on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning with two runs as Xan McGhee (1-for-2, 2R) and Cameron Arementor (1-for-2, R) each crossed the plate.

The Padres scored their final two runs in the bottom of the third inning with Lane and Bailey each touching home plate for the second time.

Trailing 11-2, the Mariners attempted a comeback, but fell short only scoring five runs with Justin Pearson (0-for-3, R), McGhee, Tyree Williams (0-for-2, R), Tanner Jackson (0-for-1, R) and Jacob McGhee (0-for-1, R) making it around the base path.

Stopping the Mariners short of a comeback secured the win for the Padres.
