Due to a lack of teams in their division, the Atmore 14U All-Stars found themselves playing in the 16U tournament this weekend in Brewton, and fought their way through their older opponents to land at the runner up spot and earn a trip to North Carolina later this month to play in the regional tournament.
The 14U All-Stars fought through a tough schedule over the weekend, taking on 16U opponents from Brewton, Northwest Escambia and Covington County to finish in second place.

Simpkins said, following the girls’ big weekend in Brewton, they will begin preparations for a quick turn around and trip to Wintersville, NC.
The girls will have time for only a select few practices before making the trip Tuesday. Tournament play will last through the week, culminating next Saturday in the softball World Series championship.
