Warriors beat A’s

The Poarch Warriors beat the State Farm Athletics 8-3 in 8U Cal Ripken Action Thursday, May 16.
The Warriors scored two runs in the top of the first inning. Braden Woods led off with a triple before he scored on a single by Josh Burkett. Burkett later scored on a double by Luke Bell.
The A’s side was struck out in the bottom of the first and Poarch led 2-0. Poarch was held scoreless in the top of the second, despite a two out single by Kole Stewart. The Athletics were held scoreless again in the bottom of the second.
Braden Woods hit a two-out home run to give Poarch a 3-0 lead in the top of the third. The Athletics couldn’t find any offense again in the bottom of the inning.
J.T. Alainz hit a lead-off triple and scored when Bell hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth. Poarch increased its lead to 5-0. The Athletics’ side struck out in the bottom of the inning.
The Warriors’ side struck out in the top of the fifth inning, while the A’s scored all three of their runs in the bottom half.
Anthony McCants singled and Brody Black doubled before Exavion Bradley hit a home run that cleared the bases and cut the Warriors lead to 5-3. Emmett Battles singled, but was stranded.
The Warriors added three runs in the top of the sixth that put the game out of reach for the Athletics. Woods hit a one-out double before Alainz singled and Burkett hit a home run to clear the bases and give the Warriors an 8-3 win.
Braves fall to NWE
The 8U First National Bank and Trust Braves fell 11-5 to NWE Farm Bureau Thursday, May 16.
NWE got off to a good start, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. Josh Landis Tripled before Reid McCall hit a two-run shot with one out. John Ward and David Gilley both singled before Wyatt Jarvis hit a three-run home run.
The Braves answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Will Smith singled before Christopher smacked a two-run shot. Davion Steele added a one-out home run before the inning ended with two strikeouts.
Aiden Broadhead doubled and Trent Knighten singled before a Blake Yoder double cleared the bases in the top of the second. NWE led 7-3.
The Braves were held scoreless in the bottom of the second, but NWE added one run in the top of the third on a double by Reid McCall and a single by Jace Gifford. NWE took a 8-3 advantage.
The Braves were once again held scoreless in the bottom of the third , but NWE scored two runs in the top of the fourth. J.P. Gilman and Knighten scored for NWE to give the team a 10-3 lead.
The Braves answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Smith and Johnson both singled and Tyler Ragan all singled before Steele doubled allowing two runs to plate. McCall added another home run in the top of the fifth to give NWE the win.
Nailers lose to Cards
The Cornerstone Homebuilders Nailers lost 12-10 to the Alto Products Cardinals during tee-ball action Monday, May 13.
The Cardinals opened with six runs in the top of the first inning scored by Cali McCants, Zack McCants, Quay McCants, Kalayah McCants, Brody Baker and Ty McCants.
The Nailers answered with three runs scored by Braden Glick, Jaylen Taylor and Tanner Sanspree.
The Cardinals added one run in the second inning when a Cali McCants double scored Laylia Kidd. The Nailers were held scoreless with two strikeouts.
Baker and Ty McCants added two runs for the Cardinals in the third to give Alto Products a 10-3 lead. The Nailers did most of their damage in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs in the frame. Luke Chavers, Glick, Taylor, Sanspree and Braiden Walker all scored. The Nailers cut the lead to 10-8.
The Cardinals added two runs in the fourth and final inning. The team scored on runs by Cali McCants and Imari Lemon. The Nailers scored on runs by Luke Chavers and Braleigh Lambert before the game ended.
Shockers beat Nailers
The Tri-Co Electric Shockers beat the Cornerstone Homebuilders Nailers 22-21 Monday night.
The Nailers scored first, plating runs by Luke Chavers, Braden Glick and Tanner Sanspree. The Shockers answered with six runs scored by Ronta Watson, Gabe Hooks, Riley Harrison, Harper Harrison, Brodie Phillips, Wyatt Swearingen and Jamarion Hooks.
The Shockers led 6-3 after the first inning.
The Nailers answered with six runs in the top of the second scored by Shawn McBride, Will Strawbridge, Miles Smith, Chavers, Glick and Jaylen Taylor. The Shockers scored eight runs by Deandre Hooks, Tony Brown, Jay Robinson, Watson, Ben Lindsey and Hooks. The Shockers led 14-9 at the end of two.
The Nailers added four runs in the top of the third. They were scored by McBride, Miles Smith, E.J. Wiggins and Tevin McCrain.
The Shockers answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the third as Robinson, Watson, Lindsey and Gabe Hooks scored. The Shockers took an 18-13 lead.
The Nailers scored eight runs in the top of the fourth with Chavers, Glick, Taylor, Sanspree, Braleigh Lambert, McCrain, McBride and Smith all plating. The Nailers took a 21-18 lead.
Needing three runs to tie, the Shockers saw Jamarion Hooks, Cade Leachman, Deandre Hooks and Brown all score for the 22-21 win.
