Escambia County’s freshman basketball squad went down to Mobile last week and put on a winning effort, winning a Thanksgiving tournament held in the Port City.

The Blue Devils beat LeFlore 54-30 in the championship game.

“The freshmen play was tremendous,” ECHS coach Bruce Craig said. “To come down there and play those teams in Mobile, it was a great accomplishment and a good motivator for the team.”

In the semifinals, ECHS beat McGill-Toolen, 46-35, and topped Faith Academy 54-32 in the quarterfinals.

As a result of the tournament win, the Blue Devils improve to 5-0 on the season.
