Hillcrest-Evergreen’s Braxton Rudolph got a putback with 2.1 seconds left to help lift the Jaguars to a close 65-53 rival victory over Escambia County last Saturday night.

Blue Devils guard Anthony Fountain missed a drive to the basket, and the Jaguars drove the court a little more than 6.6 seconds to get the winning shot, which Rudolph made after a rebound.

ECHS trailed 54-49 with 7:47 left in the game, and went on a 6-0 run to lead 63-62 with 1:26 to go.

The Blue Devils elected to hold the ball after a timeout with 55.4 on the clock.

However, the Jaguars got the ball back and Chille Ford got a block on the defensive end, but drew a foul with 23.5 seconds left.

Rudolph drained the front-end of his pair to tie the game at 63-63.

Escambia County’s Devon Robinson led the Blue Devils with 25 points. Ford chipped in 14 points, and Fountain had 12.

Kobe Bradley scored 22 points, and Rudolph had 16.

ECHS will end the regular season before area tournament play on Fri., Feb. 5, at T.R. Miller.
