ECHS looks to end season on high note

If there’s one thing for sure, Escambia County wants to finish its season on a high note as the Blue Devils travel to face Faith Academy this week.

ECHS is coming off a bitter 27-8 loss to W.S. Neal that put it out of playoff contention. FA lost to a good St. Paul’s team, 35-7. Both are 2-7 on the season, and have faced several top 10 teams in their respective classifications.

“We want to finish strong,” ECHS head football coach Rico Jackson said. “Faith is pretty good, actually. We’re going to have to play well.”

Jackson said the Rams like to throw the ball around a lot, and have two good running backs in Timmy Cody and James L. Harris II.

Defensively, FA runs out of a four-man front, and fly to the ball, he said.

“They play a tough schedule like we do as well,” Jackson said. “Their record doesn’t indicate how they are as a team.”

Jackson said two keys for his team this week includes making plays and executing.

Jackson said if the Blue Devils get a win this week, then it will be good for their offseason workout program.

“It would give us momentum going into the offseason,” he said. “Right now, we’re not playing with a lot of confidence, especially on offense. We need some confidence to finish the year strong.”

Kick off at Ram Field in Mobile is at 7 p.m.
