Chris Harrison won reelection to the District 5 seat of the Atmore City Council during a municipal runoff election, held Tues., Oct. 6.
Harrison defeated Bub Gideons 121-100 in the runoff.
Harrison accumulated 111 regular ballots, compared to Gideons’ 90. Both received 10 absentee ballots each.
“It was a hard-fought race for both parties,” Harrison said. “Bub ran a good race, and was a great challenger. I appreciate his efforts, and the things he does in the community.
“I hope I could be of help to him in the future,” he said. “He gave me a good race, and I appreciate that.”
The results were posted approximately 45 minutes after the poll closed at 7 p.m.
Gideons and Harrison shook hands after the results were posted for the group of supporters.
“It was a good clean race,” Gideons said. “We turned out over 200 people today. It was very, very competitive.
“The people have spoken, and it’s time to get back to work to make Atmore better,” he said.
