The Atmore City Council adopted a resolution for a land easement for the Escambia County Healthcare Authority at its meeting on Oct. 25.
Mayor Jim Staff said in the original survey for the property, which the city swapped with the ECHCA, the surveyor missed a small piece of the land.
“This is 0.11 acres, which is seven foot on the north end down to nothing on the south end,” Staff said. “It’s all about the easement. It should’ve been caught a long time ago.”
In March 2020, the city approved with swap with the ECHCA. The swap included 8.3 acres behind Atmore Commuity Hospital and 10 acres of land just south of the red light across from Wind Creek Hotel and Casino on Highway 21.
In other business, the city:
• adopted resolution 2021-22 for the purchase of a brush truck from a NPP government contract; and,
• adopted resolution 2021-23 for grass and weed nuisances. City Code Enforcement Officer Greg Vaughn said the city sent notices to some 27 residences, and 19 have not been addressed by the owners. The adopted resolution gives the city permission to enter the unaddressed properties to deal with the nuisances.
