The Atmore City Council approved the letting of bids for new police patrol vehicles during its meeting on Jan. 24.
The bids are being let on five patrol vehicles, one SUV and one truck.
Chief Chuck Brooks said because the city is growing, the APD is going to grow as well. He said having additional cars will help with replacements as older vehicles go down.
In other business, the council:
- renewed a line of credit with First National Bank and Trust. This is done every year; and,
- approved an ABC application for The Coffee House LLC. The approved application allows for the sale of beer and retail table wine.
Councilwoman Eunice Johnson of District 3 said the recent food drive was a success, and those who benefited are what it’s designed for.
Johnson thanked Brooks for his assistance as well.
