Billy Glenn Rushing Post 90 recognizes Boys, Girls State attendees

Billy Glenn Rushing Post 90 held a recognition ceremony for all attendees of the Boys and Girls State Programs for 2022 on Aug. 18.

The program was well attended by members of the community, families and the 34th District American Legion Commander Larry Meeks, along with his wife and post members.

Each attendee spoke about their experiences during the week-long program, and each were presented a certificate.

Post 90 Auxiliary Vice-President Nancy Kerrick provided an overview of the Girls State Program and offered some in-sight to officials that routinely attend the program and shared a few stories of how their stories impacted the attendees.

Boys State attendees included Charles McGill, Aaron Huggins and Christian Crook (not present) of Escambia Academy; Hasten Dean of Escambia County High School; and Bryan Patterson (not present) and Christopher Spann (not present) of Flomaton High School.

Girls State attendees included Kadence Kolbe (not present) of EA; Si’Mya Sims (not present) of ECHS; and Morgan Dubose (not present) of W.S. Neal High School.

Post 90 offered 11 Boys State sponsorships and the auxiliary offered seven Girls State sponsorships for local high school juniors to attend the programs.
