Main Street Atmore accepting applications for facade grants

Main Street Atmore is accepting applications for its Façade Incentive Program.
The program is funded through various fundraising events, memberships, grants, sponsorship investments provided by the city of Atmore, Poarch Creek Indians, First National Bank and Trust, Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union, United Bank, David’s Catfish and Pepsi Bottling Co. of Atmore.
Funds are made available for exterior improvements only, and may be applied to a front, side or rear facades, provided the façade faces a public street or public parking area.
Façade improvements such as new paint applied to existing painted exterior walls, replacement or addition of awnings, replacement or improvements to existing signs, new façade applications to damaged or visually unpleasant exterior walls, renovations which complement the historic characteristics of buildings, and replacement of or uncovering of architectural features of buildings.
According to officials, the deadline for applications is Jan. 31.
Applications can be found at www.mainstreetatmore.org or stop by the office located at Atmore City Hall. Applications can be returned via email at info@mainstreetatmore.org, city hall or to any Main Street Atmore board member.
Applications are reviewed by the Main Street Design team and Atmore Historic Commission and will be awarded on or before April 3, 2023.
The Façade Grant program is designed to offer financial assistant to businesses and commercial property owners to revitalize and bring new life to our historic downtown. Main Street Atmore improvement incentive program has award nineteen façade grants in the 2021-2022 Grant cycle distributing $44,351.24 out of $133,691.13 in total improvements in the downtown district.
