Flomaton lineman Mason Dullard signed his letter of intent to play football at Butler Community College during a ceremony today in the school gymnasium.
Dullard, at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, had 84 pancake blocks during his senior season. He also had 19 tackles while on defense for five games.
“I just want to thank my Lord and savior Jesus Christ,” Dullard said in front of his family, friends, teammates and coaches. “I love to play this game, and I thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches for their support.”
Hurricanes head football coach Doug Vickery said today is a big day for Dullard and his family.
“To have an opportunity to get an education is very important,” Vickery said. “This is an opportunity for him because he put in the hard work that it takes.”
Vickery noted the Dullard’s size, adding that at 6-foot-4, players like him don’t grow on trees.
Vickery added that Dullard is a bigger version of his older brother, Jackson.
“I just appreciate the opportunity to have been able to coach him,” Vickery said.
Dullard is the son of Steven and Amy Dullard.
