3rd annual Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Game held today

The Atmore Fire Department (Plug Uglies) beat the Police Department (Road Runners) 22-16 in the third annual Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Game tonight at Tom Byrne Park.
The game was tied 9-9 in the fourth inning, and the Plug Uglies scored seven runs in the top of the sixth to take a big lead. PU led 20-14 entering the seventh inning.
Proceeds raised will go to the Escambia County Child Advocacy Center.
During tonight’s game, the first pitch was thrown by Braxton Lavana.
Lavana, 11, was involved in a vehicle crash recently, and after composing himself, pulled his family out to safety.
“We can definitely call him a hero,” Game Announcer and APD Police Officer Chance Thompson said.
