Suspect ID’d from July 25 shooting on Brooks Lane; considered armed, dangerous

Atmore police officials announced today that they have identified a suspect who was responsible for the homicide that occurred on July 25 on Brooks Lane.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Antonio LeMarcus Pettaway II, 19, of Mobile, was identified and responsible for the homicide. Investigators, who made the identification, obtained warrants for his arrest.
“He should be considered armed and dangerous,” McMann said. “He may possibly be in the Mobile area. Call 911 if he is seen, and don’t approach him.”
According to Atmore Advance archives, APD officers responded to Brooks Lane in reference to a traffic crash on July 25 at approximately 5 p.m.
“When the officers arrived, they discovered the driver had been shot,” McMann said. “The victim was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.”
