Century, Fla. man arrested, charged with drugs after Aug. 11 traffic stop

A Century, Fla. man was arrested Aug. 11 on drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Jeffie Morris, 50, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 11:30 p.m., an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 21 in reference to an equipment violation, and contacted Morris.

“The officer noticed some strange behavior during their interaction,” McMann said. “An Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office K-9 deputy stopped to assist and deployed his K-9.”
McMann said the K-9 alerted on the vehicle, and Morris was removed from the vehicle so the officer could conduct a search.

McMann said the officer discovered a green leafy substance that was identified by Morris as synthetic cannabis (spice), multiple cigarillos blunts containing a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana, a spoon with a crystal-like residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine and a glass pipe with a crystal-like residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

McMann said Morris was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
