Atmore fire officials announced today the citywide burn ban has been lifted.

Chief Ronald Peebles said Monday morning that the ban has been lifted, and residents still have to go by city ordinances when burning.

Peebles said only natural wood or vegetation can be burned 100 feet from any structure. He said residents need to stand by with a water hose in case the fire goes awry.

Peebles said construction materials, plastics and rubber can not be burned.
